This study seeks for implementing the global network dubbed the reinforcement in competitiveness of organization and its extension through comparing Motherland Ties and Han Race Ties between Mindan and FKAJ. It classified the organization-based network into strong ties and weak ties and then applied this to Motherland Ties and Han Race Ties in Mindan and FKAJ.
In the network of two organizations, the issues such as ideological homogeneity, an increase in advantages, similarity in activity, regular event, one-time & formal exchange, and representative nature were the influential factors of strong or weak ties. The similarities of the network between Mindan and FKAJ included human organization, action in ideological factor, deflective exchange with pro-Korean organization, activation in motherland ties, solidarity of being concentrated on South Korean government and political party, a positive exchange with Overseas Koreans Foundation and Overseas Korean newspapers, an exchange with education·occupation·civil society groups, and being positive in Han Race Ties. As for the differences in two organizations, Mindan has strong ties with Foreign Ministry·Unification Ministry, Overseas Koreans Foundation, political party, and civil society group and implemented extensive network as the performance of a central role in Han Race Ties. On the other hand, FKAJ includes strong ties with functional organization, weak ties with South Korean government and political party, one-time exchange with South Korean local government, a peripheral role in Han Race Ties, and narrowness in network.
The global network in Mindan and FKAJ needs to quantitatively expand a network that exchanges with diverse Korean groups such as human rights, welfare, education and culture with escaping from the focus on the overseas Korean association. Also, there is a need to pursue the continuously strong ties with nonmainstream overseas Korean association in order to qualitatively deepen the global network.
