Patriarchal culture so strongly affect the life of Indonesian society in all aspects. This often results in the occurrence of domestic violence. So for more than 12 years of the issuance of Law No. 23 of 2004 on the elimination of domestic violence, in fact, the numbers of domestic violence is still high.
The high rate of domestic violence in the annual report issued by an NGO or a local government authority could be because more public awareness of its rights in the family. Besides of course as it continues to intensified dissemination of the anti-domestic violence law and the rights that can be obtained by a victim of domestic violence.
Numbers of domestic violence cases that go to the victim service agency, is not comparable with legal aid institutions and lawyers. Most of the victims are poor. They certainly do not have much money to hire lawyers from the law firm.
In this paper described how to handle cases of domestic violence that is so much going on in the community. How to Act number 16 of 2011 about Legal Aid implemented, so community empowerment can be implemented and the community can help itself in a legal issue, not only domestic violence, but most are domestic violence.
