Female vagabonds are alienated socially, are receiving dualistic discrimination due to prejudice at home and in society, and are feeling more difficulty for returning to society owing to these characteristics. Given not satisfying a basic desire as a woman for the social returning, the attitude and intention as a social being are judged to be likely further weakened. A desire for being beautiful, especially, the attitude toward life as a woman of striving to decorate appearance, are regarded as enhancing quality of life. Through Cosmetology, this study examined about which influence the psychological utility existence appearance and the interpersonal inferiority complex in vagabonds have upon the enhancement in self-esteem and the intention of returning to society.
The results are as follows.
First, everyone had an interest in female identity regardless of age. As a result of analyzing difference according to period of vagabond life, the psychological utility or social inferiority complex was indicated to be bigger in case of the facility-admission life for a long time compared to those of the short-term facility admission life. To play a role as a social member, a rehabilitation program will need to be progressed promptly.
Second, the interest in psychological utility was lower in vagabonds with the more inferiority complex. Especially, the attitude and recognition on appearance or make-up were very noticeable.
Third, when comparing before and after of Cosmetology, the interest in psychological utility increased. Psychological efficacy was enhanced definitely. Thus, a role was indicated to be performed as a place of forming and encouraging the conditions for self-reliance.
Fourth, the Cosmetology was shown to lead to solving own inferiority complex, forming ego, enhancing performance ability in interpersonal relations, and making them have a desire of the social returning. It could be considered to be consistent with the objective of this program because a number of them desire to return to community.
