This research intends to provide the basic data to the dance major students for their efficient and positive development as dancers. For this purpose, we examined the dance major student’s self-identity and ability of physical expression and also studied their influence on dance achievement. The subject of this study were dance major students. Convenience sampling, which is a non-probability sampling, was used. Among total 400 questionnaires distributed, 350 copies were collected back .Questionnaires that were insincerely replied , double-replied or judged useless for the study were excluded and a total of 314 questionnaires were analyzed. The research results are as follows: First, subjectivity which is subfactor of self-identity had influence on expressiveness, meaning and individuality which is sub-factor of physical expression. Second, subjectivity and intimacy which are sub-factors of self-identity had influence on affective development, psychomotor development and cognitive development which are sub-factors of dance achievement. Goal orientation which is subfactor of self-identity had influence on psychomotor development which is sub-factor of dance achievement . Third, meaning which is sub-factor of physical expression ability had influence on affective development and cognitive development. Variety which is sub-factor of physical expression ability had influence on psychomotor development. Expressiveness which is sub-factor of physical expression ability had influence on affective development.
