This study aimed to investigate health literacy in immigrant women in South Korea and factors associated therewith. From May through October 2015, were immigrant women registered in the multicultural family support centers in Daejeon Metropolitan City and Chungcheong area were subjected to convenience-sampling. Using a direct-survey method, the present researcher collected data from 155 such women. Of the questionnaires gathered, 146 were used for statistical analysis, the remaining nine discarded for inappropriate answers. The collected data were subjected to descriptive statistical analysis, t-test, ANOVA, and multiple regression analysis using SPSS 20.0. The results showed that the immigrant women had a mean health-literacy score of 28.87 against 66. The factors associated with their health literacy were: length of stay in Korea(β=0.226, p=.008), Korean citizenship(β=0.195, p=.020), Subjective Korean ability(β=0.268, p=.001) and Subjective health status (β=0.159, p=.028), which were found to be statistically significant. These variables exhibited a 30.1% explanatory power for health literacy. The results imply that education program in Korean as well as in medical terminology would be necessary for immigrant women in Korea who seek health and medical services so that their compliance with instructions given by the medical staff improved.
