Aristotle said that it is foolish that we do not feel angry when we ought to feel angry. However, if we consider the aspect of anger, i.e., it`s wildness and violence which influence negatively the individuals and the society, it is necessary for us to clarify the reasons why Aristotle evaluate anger`s role in a positive way. To investigate Aristotle`s view of anger through the Nicomachean Ethics and Rhetorics, I analyze two components of anger`s process which are the cognitive and emotional element. Next, I demonstrate the possibility of the mean(to meson) of anger by considering Aristotle`s view of praotes, i.e., mildness. Lastly, I examine two objections against Aristotle`s positive view of anger, and try to prove that those objections are not persuasive from the perspective of Aristotelian theory of anger. One of them concerns the relation between the forgiveness and anger, while the other is that Aristotle`s anger is a kind of narcissus emotion, i.e., self absorption.
