Gyeonggi-Do has established the first English Village in Korea to improve Gyeonggi-Do citizen’s globalization capabilities.
However, the environment of the english education is changing and the demand for the creative education is increasing. So, the present study examine and propose the extending of the Gyeonggi English Village into the Creativity Village.
For this study, we researched and analyzed the present situation of the English Village and the environment of the english education. Also we reviewed the necessity of the education for the creativity and suggested the way of gradual extending of the Gyeonggi English Village into the Creativity Village. And we presented a variety of creativity programs. The extending into the Creativity Village must be based on the connection system with the “Freedom Semester” that takes effect from March 2016.
Hangul Creativity Village is the one of the possibilities to extend Gyeonggi English Village into the Creativity Village. The name of the ‘Hangul’ stand for the Korea’s or Korean’s Creativity. In Hangul Creativity Village, MECA(Media/Education/Culture/Art) is the center for the creative education in pursuit of Curiosity, Body, Convergence and Reciprocality.
To successfully extend Gyeonggi English Village into the Creativity Village, we suggest most of all the composition of Consultative Group between Gyeonggi-Do and Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education and the organization of the Creativity Program Task Force that manage the schedule, the research and the development of the creative education.
