The purpose of this study was to analyze how family strengths affect teacher-child relationships and peer competence of young children, particularly as mediated by the mother`s parental efficacy and the child`s resilience. For this purpose, 129 5-year-old children attending preschools or kindergartens in the city of ‘G’ and their mothers were selected to participate in this study. Data on family strengths and parental efficacy were collected from the mothers, and data on the children``s resilience, teacher-child relationships, and peer competence from their teachers. The collected data were analyzed through Pearson``s correlation, multiple regression analysis, and multiple mediator models, and the statistical significance of the mediating paths was tested through bootstrapping. According to the results of these analyses, the relationships between family strengths and both teacher-child relationships and peer competence of young children were found to be mediated by both mother``s parental efficacy and children`s resilience. This finding suggests that family strengths may have direct and indirect effects on the teacher-child relationships and peer competence of young children, underscoring the importance of family strengths. In addition, the study`s implications suggest that it is desirable to positively reinforce family strengths by influencing mothers` parental efficacy and children`s resilience, in light of the likely positive influence of family strengths over young children`s social development.
