This study aimed to find out the influence of the level of participation in sports competitions by physical education majors under academic credit bank system on community spirit and the intention to continue learning. The subjects of the study were 90 physical education majors attending the life-long education center in H University, which is located in Gyeonggido Province. To verify the result, t-test analysis, correlation analysis, and regression analysis were conducted and through the process, the following results were deduced. First, as for satisfaction of desire and sense of belonging, sub-factors of community spirit, participants showed higher level than non-participants, and as for attitude, a sub-factor of the intention to continue learning, participants showed higher level than non-participants. Second, as for the intention to continue learning depending on the time of exercise per week, those who exercised 3 times or less had higher intention than those who exercised 4 times or more. Third, satisfaction of desire and emotional bond, sub-factors of community spirit had a significant influence on behavior, a sub-factor of the intention to continue learning, and emotional bonding and sense of belonging had a significant influence on attitude. This result shows that appropriate participation in exercise and activities in sports competitions by physical education majors in the life-long education center improve their social relations, but excessive participation in exercise and pressure from competitions can raise negative emotions. This result is thought to be helpful for physical education majors attending the life-long education center to continue their learning and develop positive egos, and is expected to be used as base data that instructors of these students can refer to.
