This research started from the perspective that it is important in athletic performance for dance sports players to express emotions. However, before establishing the relationships with other variables based on the variables such as emotional expression, it is necessary to review the validity of the integrated perspectives in grafting the alexithymia disposition scales to the dance sports event for the first time. In this context, the factorial invariance of the sports dance players’ alexithymia disposition scale was verified, and whether there were differences according to gender was examined through the latent means analysis. To do this, data were collected from 198 professional and amateur dance sports players, and the structural equation model was established, and this was applied in consecutive order according to research questions, and the conclusion is as follows.
First, the factorial invariance (form-measurement-section identity) of the sports dance players’ alexithymia disposition scale was all verified, so it was proved that it can become a tool that can be utilized properly in evaluating the sports dance players’ alexithymia disposition according to gender, and it was also established that there were no problems caused by gender difference since the presentation of the strategies through the comparisons between genders was interpreted on the same scale. Second, in the latent mean differences of the alexithymia disposition scale according to dance sports players’ gender, there were statistically significant differences in extrovert thinking and emotional awareness difficulties, but it was different from the variance analysis results that showed significant differences in all subordinate factors. Particularly, the two factors shown in the latent mean differences showed that female players were superior in the alexithymia disposition compared with male players, so the conclusion derived was that the instructors need to take a greater interest in leading male players’ implicit expression to be expressed explicitly.
