The Russian interrogative pronoun cto becomes a discourse marker is not a short-term, one-time, incidental phenomenon, but one that occurs consecutively over a long period. The discourse function and meaning of discourse maker cto can be inferred from the ‘information request to resolve questions regarding certain events, conditions, emotions, phenomena, characteristics and situations``, which is the basic meaning of interrogative pronoun cto. The function of discourse marker cto, located at the front of the utterance, can be divided into the case where it concerns the response to the preceding speaker`s speech-act and the case where it concerns the response to the given environment or the speaker`s own speech-act. The cto located in the middle of the utterance not only performs the function of expressing the speaker`s subjective emotional meaning but also functions as a particular speech-act marker. The filler discourse marker is a method of unfolding a lively conversation while drawing the listener into the narrative. It is a device for firmly and accurately delivering the position of the speaker while securing time.
