The verbs 「짓다」 and 「맹갈다」 were words representing "formation". They have a synonymous relationship both in present Korean and in middle, modern Korean. The different meaning of the two words is revealed in respect to the lexical property of objective words and not to syntactic filter. This paper reasons inductively the semantic function, after analysis, of the two verbs which have certain nouns as objects. The analysis is of documentary resources of the Korean language during the fifteenth to the nineteenth centuries. As a result of this study, 「짓다」 is more restricted in selecting objective words than 「맹갈다」, and reveals a collocative systemic relationship because it adheres more closely to objective words.
