In relation to the study of detailed creative writing methods for Japchesi(miscellaneous style poetry) poetry, the paper was written as part of the study on the search for the various writing methods of Jangdu-che and Okyeonhwan-che which were often used by an umber of authors in the Joseon era. The paper first inquired into the current status of works listed in anthologies named ‘Jangdu’ or ‘Okyeonhw an’ in order to confirm in detail the writing methods of Jangdu-che and Okyeonhw an-che, which were used by the poetical circles during the Joseon Dynasty, and found the name in the works of 48 poets and that the writing method could be categorized into four types. First, the method of using apart of the last letter in each phrase for the first letter in the next phrase was the most general writing method, the second involved a method of inserting a particular letter in to the first letter of each phrase, and the third w as to divide each phrase in to two to reuse it in the next phrase, and the fourth was to use apart or the whole of the final phrase at the begininning of the work.
Through the writing method of linking the poetic phrase by separation and combination of particular letters, Jangdu-che became the representative poetic style that clearly displays the formation principle of Chinese characters and th eir etymological characteristics. This study is meaningful in that it emphasizes the existence of Jangdu-che in the history of Chinese poetry and establishes the opportunity to reconfirm its status by retracing the its historical value through the research results dealt with above.
