The purpose of this thesis is to explore and propose the therapeutic meanings and effects of hope, encouragement and courage. According to previous research, hope, based on positive psychology, intimately relates to human mental wellness, physical health, and further beneficial effects. In counseling and psychotherapy, encouragement and courage are the essential factors of change and growth for clients as much as hope is an important catalyst for healing. Therefore, this thesis has tried to provide an exploration and explanation of the meanings and healing effects of hope, encouragement and courage. Further research and study on this topic are needed to develop concrete intervention methods and strategies of hope, encouragement, and courage in the process of psychotherapy and pastoral counseling.
