Since August 2007, there has been severe recession cross the world originated from the sub-prime mortgage crisis in the United States. Many countries including the Republic of Korea (hereinafter Korea), the United States and the European Union (hereinafter EU) are trying to overcome such a recession, However, these efforts do not work yet. Even though, Korea has to prepare for the prosperous days in the future. In this sense, the author examines the financial regulatory and supervisory plans of the United States and the EU as compared to our financial regulatory and supervisory system, and takes the lessons from these countries which are the major economies in the world. Moreover, because the free trade agreement (hereinafter FTA) among Korea, the United States and the EU is about to come into effect in the very near future, Korea has to arrange the advanced financial regulation and supervision which reflects the financial regulatory and supervisory levels of the United States and the EU as soon as possible. Reflecting the financial regulatory and supervisory levels of the United States and the EU, the Korean financial regulation and supervision has to be interlocked with the regulatory and supervisory levels of the United States and the EU. If the Korean financial regulation and supervision is intensified as opposed to those of the United States and the EU, it is an obstacle against Korea in the prosperous times. On the other hand, if the Korean financial regulation and supervision is mitigated as opposed to those of the United States and the EU, it places Korea to be a victim through several advanced financial techniques. Because the levels of financial regulatory and supervisory approach might be different from their sub-provisions` levels, many studies on the levels of sub-provisions composed of such financial regulation and supervision must be subsequent to this article.
