Jeung, Tae Jin is the scholar who horned in 1914 and died in 1952. He graduated Yunhee University at 1925, and studied philosophy at Wooster College(1927-1930) in U.S. After that he majored in M.A department of Education of Columbia university After returning to Korea, he put his heart and soul into study of Korean language and worked as a teacher in the middle school and University. He is patriot who died in 1952 during his editing of 「Urimal kuin Sa ieun」. He achieved various research including dialect, etymology, korean Grammar, language policy, history of Korean liguistics, as well as general linguistic theory. From those articles and books, we will deeply research his achievement in study for dialect and etymology 1) His study in dialectology is the dialect study of beginning stage, which followed Japanese scholar’s study in Korean dialectology. He wrote three articles about dialect and two books 「Introduction of Dialectoloty」 and 「Korean Archaism and Dialect Dictionary」, whcih have significant meaning in study of Korean dialectology study. 2) His study regarding etymology can be found from his articles and the book 「The study of Korean」. Those are also important achievements in this field which can find the origin of Korean.
