In this study, the control group with 24 female osteoarthritis patients older than 60 years, the exercise group with HRmax 50-70% and the exercise group with HRmax 60-80% are divided to study the effects from aquatic rehabilitation exercise programs. First, regarding to the aquatic exercise depending on the exercising intensity, the control group did not have a change in health-related physical fitness of elderly arthritis patient, but each exercise group with HRmax 50-70% and HRmax 60-80% showed the significant difference in cardiorespiratory endurance, lower body strength, muscle endurance between groups and before/after an endurance exercise(p<.05). The control group showed no changes in cardiorespiratory endurance, but the exercise group with HRmax 60-80% showed a bigger differences than the exercise group with HRmax50-70%(p<.01).
Second, the aquatic exercise depending on the exercising intensity has no influence on the control group in pain intensity difference of elderly arthritis patients there being no change in the control group, but every exercise group with HRmax 50-70% and 60-80% showed a significant difference before and after a workout(p<.05).
Finally, the aquatic exercise has been found to show a positive impact on the improvement of health related physical strength and the reduction pain of female osteoarthritis patients older than 60 years. Therefore, at aquatic rehabilitation programs that include the low-intensity exercise and medium strength exercise, the exercise with HRmax 50-80% seems to be more effective in several variables.
