The purpose of this study was to examine the influence of various type of physical activities on blood lipid level and ealth-related physical fitness. The subject of this studies were 333 adult male living in Seoul who had a complete physical examination in "N" Fitness Center. This study investigated the differences of cardiovascular risk factors and physical fitness test to classify long term effect of various type of exercises using questionnaire and laboratory testing as V·O2max test, biochemical analysis of blood, and fitness test. GXT was instrumented to all subjects to determine the ardiorespiratory function using automatic gas analyzer. 10㎖ of blood was collected from antecubital vein of the subject to determine blood lipid level and fast glucose level. Subject also was tested for isokinetic peak torque using isokinetic dynamometer. For the statistical analysis, the data was analyzed by SPSS 17.0 program using one-way ANOVA and Duncan·s multiple range test for post-hoc to define the relationship of cardiovascular risk factors and physical fitness factors between each group. A statistical significance was determined at the level of p<.05. The results of this study were as follows. First, physique according to exercise group, there was no significant difference in height and weight. Second, there was a significant difference in TG and LDL-C, whereas no differences were found in HDL-C, TG, and FBS. Between each group there was a significant difference in V·O2max and exercise time. However, there was no significant difference in HRmax, ATV·O2max. Third, in health-related physical fitness there was a significant difference in muscle strength(L/R), muscular endurance, agility, isokinetic peak torque(extension/flexion). However there was no significant difference in power and flexibility. In conclusion among the various types of physical activities long term weight training and running exercise have more positive effect on cardiovascular risk factors and health-related fitness partially than non exercise group. Therefore weight training might be contribute to the development of good health and thus recommended as beneficial means for improving the physical fitness.
