This study is a phenomenological investigation to find what attitudes the female middle-school students learning dancesport have toward the activity. Data were collected by interviewing four students and observing their behaviors. Seidman`s phenomenological analysis framework(Seidman, 1998) was used to analyze the data. Several meaning results were found. The students had possessed negatively-skewed attitudes toward dancesport before they learned the activity. Then, the attitudes changed to significantly-positive ones as they went through the learning process. Furthermore, the students became to participate in the sport in a proactive manner and show the willingness to take it as their life-long sport activity. They tended to recognize the cultural values of the sport as well as the physical, mental, social, and emotional ones. They regarded dancesport as the opportunity to promote their health, to have fun and pleasure, to remove the stress from their academic program, to cultivate their emotional senses, and to cultivate their skills for developing human relationships. In brief, the participating students accepted dancesport as a very useful and valuable sport activity.
