On account of the importance of extra-curricular youth activities, many countries include their student`s recordings within their Student Records Books. These records have been significantly considered as valuable data to evaluate students` ordinary lives and aptitude. In Korea, however, these recordings have been ignored because of their sloppiness. Recently a new recording system of youth activities has been developed by the Ministry of Education. The purpose of this study is 1) to ascertain how many universities trust the new recording system in their entrance examination, 2) to find what the real problems in the new recording system are, and 3) to suggest an alternative recording system with validity and reliability. For the first problem of this study entrance examination policies of all 4 year colleges and universities in Korea were eviewed. As a result, this study has found that most universities still made use of the new recording system for their new student recruitment and yet virtually ignored recordings related to extra-curricular activity because of the problem of reliability. Secondly 166 Student Record Hooks submitted to a university were investigated and some related persons were interviewed in depth so as to find the real problems of the recording system. Finally this study suggested that the recording system should be improved in part for the sake of its validity and reliability.
