The boom of the collections happened from 1960’s to 1970’s and countless the collection of world literature for children were published in this period. The collection of world literature for children was proceeded various direction of forming the cannon through selecting and arranging works. The example is work which orphan characters are a main character. this paper aims to analyse work which orphan characters are a main character in order to study the process and the logic of canonization which collection of world literature for children. in the 1960’s, orphan characters are much patience, pure and angelic in the collection of world literature for children such as 『Sans Famille』, 『A Little Princess』, 『Heidi』and 『A Dog of Flanders』. This reflects the ideology of adult about the image of the child. But in the 1970s, this tendency is a little different and orphan characters are diversified such as 『Oliver Twist』, 『Anne of Gables』and 『The Secret Garden』. These orphan characters are not beautiful looks, sometimes these children are reality critical or wacky. In addition, there is a growing tendency that orphan characters are diversified in the late 1970s.
