This study conducted an analysis on occupational Class mobility between generations in Korea. Looking into how parents" occupations would be passed down to children as their own occupations, the study investigated how the parents" incomes, occupations (job family) and educational levels are transferred to a generation of their children, and that way, the study was able to see if all those factors of the parents have any influential effects on the children"s achieving of the occupational class.
First, regarding the occupational class mobility of the parents and children, it was observed that the children"s occupational class has improved. Second, the higher the children"s educational level, the less it influences the subordinate occupational cluster. Third, the educational levels of the children would be affected by the parents (occupations, educational levels and incomes of the parents). Of all those factors, the educational levels of the parents were confirmed to have the greatest effect on the education of the children.
The study, now, concludes that what the parents do for living does have concern with the children"s careers in the future. In addition, it has been practically proved in this study that the children"s occupational determination would eventually fall under the influence of the parents" occupations, educational levels and incomes as the children go through any educational curriculums.
