The purpose of this study was to apply a conceptualization of the travel motivation in the model of tourists'decision making process. The study of the relationship between perceived travel motivation and the decision making process in regard to travel is limited within the context of tourism. Accordingly, the current study implemented an empirical approach to examine the underlying dimensions of motives in tourists'travel decisions. This research explored these dimensions in applying the model of the travel decision making process. A factor analysis was employed to identify the underlying dimension of travel motivation and as a subsequent data analysis method, a discriminant analysis was carried out to examine the differences in the underlying dimensions of perceived motives according to the process of tourists'decision making process. Lastly, a logistic regression analysis was also employed for the purpose of weighting the importance of variable(s) influencing the respondents'intention to take a future vacation trip. The finding of this study suggested that respondents sequentially perceived motives in their travel decision making process. It can be concluded from the results of this study that respondents recognized different types of travel motives in their travel decision making process.
