The present study tried to examine the aspects and meanings of travels made by the main character of Lee Sun Hee’s novel <A Wife’s Plan>. The study attempted to analyze how the awareness and perspective shown in the previous works are carried out and changed in <A Wife’s Plan> which is a work that plays a bridging role between <Bill> and <A Prodigal>.
To do so, this study paid attention to the fact that the detailed travel experiences of the characters were used as an epic turning point. It also found out that love and travel got popular due to the upsurge of cultural desire and they had a close relation with the contemporary expansion of capitalism.
In addition the present study found out that the reason why ‘travel’ is laid at the center of <A Wife’s Plan> and that it corresponded with such series of capitalistic cultural phenomena. Furthermore, this study examined the role of the travelling experiences in the process of forming sovereignty of <A Wife’s Plan> by explaining what role the travel experiences of the characters played in the process of making their own lives. Particularly, this study attempted to elucidate the relation between the changes in the awareness of female subject and their travel experiences. This novel has significance in that it catches the domain of experience that travel endures especially for a woman very precisely and sensitively and contains the results in the work.
