Report Errors
Elite coordination is the micro-foundation for dictatorial power formation and consolidation. Reconceptualizing dictatorial politics as coordination processes and outcomes among elites, we can overcome the static nature of diverse dictatorship theories recently developed and propose a theory to fully accomodate the dynamics of dictatorial politics. Elites’ convergent expectations and their interdependent choices guided by diverse focal points would determine the degree of personalization in dictatorships.
