This paper examines the influence of Kim eouk’s creative direct translation on Han Yong-Woon’s writing style. Kim-euk used a respect form, ‘seumnida’ (습니다체), coherently in the translation of Tagore’s religious poetry to express the characteristics of the metaphysical and religious poems. He also used a word, ‘ar-ar’, before address terms and predicate verbs repeatedly to express main contents effectively and show the earnestness of a truth-seeker. This style of writing, creative translation of prose poems, can be found in the ‘Nim-Eu-Chim-Mook’ published at the next year of his publishing ‘collected translation book of Tagore’s poetry’. There are the styles of religious prose poem such as ‘seumnida’, repetition of ‘ar-ar’, uniqueness of translating and using link words, and predicative sentence. These characteristics is similar to his writing style in translating Tagore’s poetry. Considering his poetic diction, poetic imagery making and writing style in his works written before ‘Nim-Eu-Chim-Mook’, he mastered the type of religious prose poetry from Tagore’s poems and developed it as the form of the Korean modern prose poetry. He made his ingenious and practical writing style. It is significant that his writing style has the source not in Japanese in the Japanese colonial period but in the independent mastering of western modern poetry and in the Korean original poetry. Consequently, it is obvious that Korean modern poetry formed at the Japanese colonial period has autogenous and creative tradition.
