In this article, relying upon Aries`s cultural-historical study and Morin`s socio-biological study of Western understanding of death, the author pays attention to the poverty of modern discourse on death caused by the exclusion and oblivion of death. Especially based upon Morin`s dialectics between biological discourse on life/death and religious discourse on life/death, the author attempts to review Christian discourses on the inclusion and memory of death and the solidarity between the living and the dead.
Thus, the author argues that the postmodern discourse on life/death should be grounded in the dialectical integration between life and death, and between scientific epistemological discourse and religious confessional discourse.
