Korea and Japan had differences in fact recognition and meaning interpretation about certain mutual history historically in the relation of good neighbor, opposition and conflict, invasion and pillage, and rule and colony, which led to historical trouble. To resolve historical trouble between Korea and Japan, two countries’ researchers have proceeded cooperative activities for mutual understanding through various organizations. by such activities, mutual understanding between two countries’ researchers of history education structure and actual state of history text book increased, and their confidence was accumulated. As continuous exchange lasts, more and more honesty dialogue and communication were possible, and output by such efforts was issued as auxiliary text book for history education by joint work. Also, these cooperative activities through report issue and report of mass media were known to two countries, consensus for importance of difference reduction of recognition history by two countries and necessity of cooperative activities was formed, and exchange between teachers and students of two countries became active. And, in the middle of such activities, description of Korean modern history in Japanese history text book got much better.
However, many problems to be resolved still remains in the future. First of all, it is important how successfully history awareness to abolish nation-centrism’s notion and look at the other party’s position will settle down in history education in both countries. It is because history of trouble and conflict to internationally be repeated can be overcome only if understood from the viewpoint of humanism and democracy other than nationalism. History awareness of Korea and Japan has been formed in the long history so that much time will be necessary while overcoming. As it took long time for Germany, a successful example of cooperative activity, to prepare recommendation draft and jointly issue textbooks, If Korea and Japan also continue conversation and communication, it is expected that history trouble will gradually be resolved.
However, many problems to be resolved still remains in the future.
