Lao-tzu老子’s writing structure consists of Wu(無)-You(有)-All things(萬物). Here, the interpretation of ‘Wu’ and ‘All things’ is relatively identical in most studies, whereas there is a great gap among the studies about ‘You’. Thus, the currently available concepts of Lao-tzu’s Tao differ from each other according to the presenters, and there is no clear-cut definition applicable to the respective chapters. So I will aim to find a new method of interpretation of Lao-tzu老子’s writing by assuming the existence of a clear-cut definition.
I will conduct this study on the basis of the fact that the concepts of ‘Wu(無)’ and ‘You(有)’ of Lao-tzu老子 are the same and suffer from no logical errors when being developed so as to set a clear-cut definition.
By doing so, from the point of view of All things, ‘Wu’ and ‘You’ are posited together as essence bases, so that Tao becomes, without being the single concept, the complex concept of ‘Wu’ and ‘You’. Also, the definition of Tao is set in a manner that ‘Wu’ bears ‘You’ to form a mother-child relationship, and the two bring about existence by creating All things together.
In order to support my opinion, writings characterized by the cosmology in chapters 1, 2, 11, 25, 40 and 42 of 『Lao-tzu』 are referenced.
