So far, The studies about organization or ideology of ‘The Union of Chosun Literary Men’ have been done by the efforts of many researchers. However, political ideology-driven study has brought about the result that their rich literature assets have not revealed clearly. So, this article tried to focus on the literature media which ‘The Union of Chosun Literary Men’ published.
This article investigated the current status of the literature media which ‘The Union of Chosun Literary Men’ published and tried to clarify their media strategy. Under the censorship and oppression of U.S. Military government, ‘The Union of Chosun Literary Men’ attempted media struggle as the subject of resistance. First, They expressed their ideology through the bulletin such as 『Literature』 and various commemorative publications. Temporary or memorial special issued 『Literature』 was the product of media strategy that ‘The Union of Chosun Literary Men’ performed in order to respond to urgent political situation. They utilized properly the editing system or the advertisement column in order to spread their ideology. Such as pamphlets or leaflets they made also can be a kind of product of media strategy. Especially, a book cover design was one of their prominent media strategy. Publishing media urgently made by the political situation used inflammatory book cover design very often. The book cover design planed by the publishing media was very effective to incite the masses.
The status of ‘The Union of Chosun Literary Men’ can be revealed more clearly in comparison or relation to the other groups.
