The detailed category of “Ssi” by Ju, Si-kyung has never been completely settled to reach an agreement, but its fundamental characteristic can be verified through other works such as his final writing, Malui-Sori(the sound of Language), and Malmoi(words of gathering), which he participated in compiling. The most important characteristic that is found among such works is that his “ssinan” (a part of speech) completely conforms to the grammatical categories of entries in the dictionary. This significantly differs from the fact that the current parts of speech in Korean does not conform to the grammatical categories of entries in the Korean dictionary. This is because it is believed that he kept in mind of the elements that were necessary to determine the meaning and grammatical function of words in explaining Korean sentences and not because Ju, Si-kyung’s “ssi” was based upon a theoretical unit such as morphemes or words. Such individual elements have already been confirmed in "Jjamdeumgal" from Gugeomunbeob and are in accord with the standards for selecting entries for the Korean dictionary.
