This study is an attempt to explore the nature of the intonation unit in Korean conversation. The intonation unit is defined as a stretch of speech occurring under a single coherent intonation contour. This study explores the relationship between intonation units and grammatical elements(clauses, phrases, words et al.), and then intonation units are tested to be the linguistic expression unit of the information This study also investigates the relationship between intonation units and syntactic construction, and proves that grammar in Korean conversation is analyzed as emergent resources procedurally deployed in specific contexts of human interaction.
