This study aims to describe team teaching practices employed by Korean English teachers and native English-speaking teachers at an elementary school and identify factors and characteristics of positive and negative partnerships among them. Five team-teaching pairs were selected for the study. Data were collected for two semesters through class observations, field notes, in-depth interviews, surveys, and personal communications. The results of the study revealed that each of the five teams has built a unique type of partnership. The factors that have played an integral role in it included their perspectives on team-teaching, communication, attitudes about lesson planning and execution, classroom management styles, teaching experiences, and personalities. These factors seemed to be intricately intertwined with one another, yielding different processes and problems in partnership formation in the five paired teams. Shared knowledge and expectations on their roles, positive personality, and communication skills were the determining factors in creating successful team teaching partnership. Development of teacher training programs and materials to enhance and promote them would be beneficial.
