The purpose of this study was to reflect upon and criticize papers dealing with modern Chinese history published in Korean journals in 2010 and 2011. The biggest characteristic of the period is the prominence of planned research. Given that 2011 was the 100th anniversary of the Xinhai Revolution, Korean academics held international conferences in commemoration of the anniversary. Second, research on diplomatic history between Korea and China and overseas Chinese in Korea are gaining momentum. Third, the number and scope of research areas are expanding. Parts of the Humanities Korea Project sponsored by the Korea Research Foundation. including research on Chinese practices and locality are gradually starting to bear fruit. Finally, it should be pointed out that there have been ongoing presentations on research topics during the modern transitional period according to their area. The attempts, in particular, to sort out Chinese modern history from the perspective of marine (history) are as significant as a new methodology. The study reviewed the characteristics and significance of research on modern Chinese history based on the four subjects mentioned above.
