The purpose of this study is to explain basic compilation principles of Ukrainian-Korean Dictionary, designed as a passive learner’s dictionary of Ukrainian and published in Seoul in 2011. Distinctive features of Dictionary lie in its user-friendly presentation of the lexical units of Ukrainian. The compiler aimed to show not only the meaning of head-word but its grammatical and lexical collocations, pronunciation, declension suffixes, conjugation suffixes and social/cultural implication, if needed. In particular, suffixes of words were presented in non-traditional ways which lead the users to exact declension and conjugation forms.
Dictionary includes about 4000 head-words, which are essential for beginners. It is planned to extend the number of head-words in consideration of learners’ need.
