Social capital is a concept in business, economics, organizational behaviour, political science, and sociology that refers to connections within and between social networks. Though there are a variety of related definitions, they tend to share the core idea that social trust has value, so social trust affects the productivity of individuals and groups. In social sciences the degree to which one party trusts another is a measure of belief in the honesty, benevolence and competence of the other party. In general, social trust is essential as social institutions, economies, and communities require trust to function.
The purpose of this study is to confirm the degree of social trust by a survey of the social consciousness of three major Asian nations-South Korea, China and Japan. Especially, We focus on how the trust in specific group affects general trust by correlation analysis. This study finds that : The types of social trust of this study are originated from specific group trust, social instrument trust, general trust and inter-organization trust. The degree of social trust on China higher than that of South Korea and Japan. Especially, The private trust positively influence various type of public trust, and the relationship between private trust and public trust is shown similarly according to the nationalities.
