The main purpose of this research is to explore how rhetorical features could contribute to the rhetorical lyricism of Koryo gayo through rhetorical approaches. Interrogative sentence in Koryo gayo might be considered as rhetoric in the way that it does not require precise answer to the question and also aims to persuade the audience in the context. In this study, interrogative sentence was examined the function and its meaning by classifying into speaker-oriented question and listener-oriented question in terms of aim of poetic speaker’s in Koryo gayo.
Listener-oriented question faces the others, which, the question itself, is direct question to listener. Many of Koryo gayo"s theme include strong hope and pray of coming back of beloved-one because most listener is the one who"s gone away from me.
Poetic narrator throw a interrogative question that express speaker"s emotions indirectly towards the third parties. Poetic narrator intends emotional catharsis by talking to the outside world.
Catechetical dialogue between the two figures in a song play an active role in flows in narratives such as bringing different hue in natural flows, conveying sense of realism and attracting attentions. As the effect of using this question - answer dialogue, audience easily pay attention to the voices of speaker.
Speaker-oriented question are embedded in persuasion and promise that lead to be comforting devastated inner mind of Speaker. Desire of encounter and reunion was not vanished under the circumstances left alone.
However, speaker was described as fragile one who lost and failed in regaining one"s will to endure and express frustrated and helpless voice. It makes the speaker"s question just a helpless crying, sighing or resignation that was mingled with the reconciliating mutters.
