With the increase in purchasing and wearing undergarments with TV home shopping brands, this study aims to explore the fittings of wearing them, analyze the patterns, and present basic data that will be necessary for the development of panties as products with superior wearing comfort and aesthetics, which require adequate dimensions of undergarments.
A preliminary survey was conducted to 100 women in their 30s who have experience in purchasing undergarments with home shopping brands, and four large brands with high awareness and large sales were selected. 90-sized panties, which were surveyed to be mostly worn, have been analyzed.
First, as a result of analyzing the satisfaction in wearing of the research panties by brand, B Company, A Company, C Company and D Company were rated in order. As such, B Company"s brand was rated as the best in terms of overall wearing comfort in relation to tightness or looseness along the crotch line and the fittings and appearance of front, rear and sides.
Second, A Company, B Company, D Company, and C Company were rated in order in relation to the appearance satisfaction. However, the research panties form B Company were rated as the best in the evaluation of wearing, which shows appearance evaluations are different from appearance evaluations. Considering the fact that any panties may cause inconvenience when they are worn, although those are rated as superior in their appearance, this study has found that patterns tha satisfy the functionality related to wearing satisfaction as well aw the aesthetics related to appearance are needed.
Third, the result shows that D Company"s panties had the length of crotch line plus the length from the front center to the rear center, 42cm, the shortest one, which is 10cm shorter than those of D Company"s panties, which are 52cm, the longest one. The wearing evaluations have identified high satisfaction in the postion of waist line from B Company"s panties and found that higher waist line gives more comforts as it covers up the belly. However, considering the appearance evaluation has rated it as the lowest, the study has found that higher waist line may adversely affect the appearance evaluation.
This study has limitaions in that its subjects were only 5 for wearing and appearance evalutations and the subjects were women in their 30s whose size were 90, which falls into the standard body type. It is necessary in future studies to increase subjects who vary in ages and body types and efficiently collect data from more samples.
