The purpose of this study is to examine the effect on elementary school students" listening abilities and on their attitudes towards English learning by means of teaching English through the use of series animation. For this purpose, the listening skills of students, along with their interests and confidence in English learning, were examined. Two 5th grade classes, 27 students in each class, were asked to participate in the study, and were divided into a control group and an experimental group. Students from the control group engaged in learning English according to the 7th Revised National Curriculum whereas students from the experimental group participated in the activities using series animation once a week during the period. The experiment was carried on for twelve weeks. The results show that the learners in the experimental group"s listening abilities and their interests in English learning improved more than those of the learners in the control group. Pedagogical suggestions were made based on the results of this study. These findings suggest that teaching English through animation-related activities can enhance English learning and foster positive attitude toward language learning.
