The revision of the National Curriculum affects educational policies from minimum five years to ten years maximum afterward. Therefore, it is proper that the revision be conducted by way of elaborated planning and sufficient study. The seventh revision published Feb. 2007 was not conducted without enormous efforts unconditionally, and everyone knows that many people and much time were invested. But, the change of the revisional direction was the way of confronting historical distortion done by the neighboring countries and included east Asian history, establishing cultural history, great strengthening of contents of history subject, and changing into authorized textbook, but the contents of history subject presented at the change were not include big change.
With optional subjects at Scholastic Aptitude Test reducing from 2012, history subject which have a lot of items which are memorized will be screened and revised subjects prepare a lot of things. Instead of artificial means of making history subjects compulsory subject at the scholastic aptitude test, it is thought that it is time to make history subject interesting subject which build up history view among students. It is time to change our mind into the viewpoint.
In order to make this goal successful, historian groups and history education groups need integrated and close study processes which guarantee needs of existing history subject, deepen intimacy with students and general public, expand history-favoring base through enlarging inquiry studies and interview studies, and develop a variety learning methods instead of expanding the simple number of history subjects. Those are the most important matter when we change the curriculum.
