본 연구의 목적은 측정 속성에 따른 용어 표상시 나타나는 유아들의 표상유형과 표상 대상물에 대해 알아보는 것이다. 본 연구는 만 3, 4, 5세 유아 150명을 대상으로 측정의 속성 16가지를 표상해보도록 한 후, SPSS 14.0을 이용하여 통계처리 하였다. 본 연구의 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 만 3, 4세 유아는 그림표상이 높게 나타난 반면, 만 5세 유아는 글자표상이 높게 나타났다. 그러나 만 3세 유아는 ‘두껍다’, ‘얇다’, ‘낮다’, ‘얕다’에서는 표상이 나타나지 않는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 측정 속성에 따른 표상 대상물은 생활 주제 중 ‘나와 유치원’, ‘우리 동네’, ‘동식물과 자연’, ‘생활 도구’, ‘환경과 생활’에서 많이 나타나, 유아들은 자신의 주변에서 표상 대상물을 선정하는 것으로 분석되었다.
The purpose of this study was to analyze the type and subject of representation based on children’s drawing, writing, verval comments about the 8 concepts of measurement such as length, width, size, thicknedss, hight, weight, depth, volume. The subject of study was 150 children from three to five of age selected from two kindergartens in kyungnam, South Korea and children’s responses were classified in four different categories of representation: pictorial, letter, number, and verbal and the data were analyzed by statistics. The followings are the result of the analysis. To begin with, pictorial representation is statistically more than others in three-and four-year-old children, while letter is more that other type of representation in five-year-old children. However, three-year-old children didn’t represent any subject in the concept of measurement such as thick, thin, low, shallow. Second, the subject of representation in the concept of measurement were showed mostly 「I and kindergarten」, 「our town」, 「animals, plants and nature」, 「tools」 and 「environment and life」. Based on these findings, it is concluded that kindergarten children can understand the concept of measurement and select the subject within their surroundings.
