This thesis is the study of the classification and name Confusion of vegerables which recorded in agricultural books. More than 230 kinds of old books concerned with agriculture were published during of Chosun-Dynasty in Korea. The lexical field of vegetables is including vine plants.
1. The following vegetables on Haidongnongseo(海東農書) are subject to inspection.
蘿蔔댄무우, 蔓菁쉿무우, ???, 芥겨?, ?蒿쑥갓, 蕓?평지, 薑?강, ?파, 紫??총, 蒜마?, ?부?, ?염교, 番椒고쵸, 葵아옥, ??부로, 芹미나리, ?슌, ?麻비마, 枸杞구긔, ?菰표고, 紫蘇?조기, 鷄冠만도라미, 熊蔬곰달?, 木頭菜두릅, 辛甘菜신감?, 芋토란, 薯?마, 甘藷, 白菜머휘, ?菜시근?, 胡?고?(或稱香?), 菁?(卽胡麻角), 滴露뎍노(或稱甘露), 冬蔬동취, ??게여목, 當歸승염초, 羊蹄노롯, 鳳仙花(一名隱性)
1.1. The vegetables with different objects are as follows. ‘薑’ and ‘甘露子’, ‘들?’, ‘엿귀’ and ‘?조기’, ‘蒜’ and ‘胡?’, ‘?菜’ and ‘白菜’, ‘?’ and ‘?’, ‘藍족’ and ‘?쳥?’, ‘當歸’ and ‘승엄초’.
1.2. The vegetables with different names are as follows. ‘갓’ and ‘계?(芥子)’, ‘芋’ and ‘?’, ‘蔓菁’ and ‘?菁(蕪菁)’, ‘蘿蔔’ and ‘?蔔’, ‘??’ and ‘상취’, ‘南椒’ and ‘예고초’, ‘艾芥’ and ‘?蒿’, ‘鳳仙花’ and ‘陰性’.
2. The names of vine plants are cucumber, melon, watermelon, white gourd-melon, pumpkin, gourd, etc. They generally have the same objects and different names.
