In Lee Cheong-jun's novel that is said to have opened the door of intellectual novel, there is the consistent orientation that cannot be overlooked. He allows a character, who aims to escape from the oppressive space, to appear in novel, thereby continuously showing how ideology was formed through it, how it is functioning now, and what the right orientation is.
Lee Cheong-jun's viewpoint of novel points to the extreme thinking, and pursues freedom of having ethical order only for a person. This has mutual understanding with Hegel's artistic philosophy as saying that art needs to play a role of in-between that makes both extremes to reconcile, and combines an idea and nature. His novel connects an idea and nature(a human being) with having prospective creativity as free imagination, and seeks for freedom of having ethical order of making both extremes reconciled.
Lee Cheong-jun continues to point to this freedom even in the novel r Door of Freedoms. An author depicts closely a situation that a hurted person, who experienced tragedy in the 1950's Korean War, comes to think oneself to be lucky to be alive, thereby coming to necessarily have belief to be comforted own confused spirit. And, the author is showing with introspective attitude that the so-called belief may be restraint of spirit, which restricts a human being as well when coming to have hugh power by being systematized.
In this way, Lee Cheong-jun's freedom-oriented works have great significance in having suggested directivity in the writing that an author in this era will need to proceed with writing with being worried. What proceeds with making order of freedom without forming hegemony is the main task that will need to be followed to be solved now by our generation that is left. The narration of his introspection toward freedom and an effort to pursue orientation are continuously effective for our generation and will be meaningful literature.
