The third parties' intervention of the long-term strike (128 day strike) of Hyundai Heavy Industries came to be a controversial issue. Regarding the issue of the third party intervention, the striking workers and the company had different viewpoints. The company defined anyone who did not have a direct relationship with Hyundai Heavy Industries to fall into the third party category. And thereby, support calls, donations and participations of the street demonstration are categorized as the third party interference. On the contrary, for the striking workers, those who the company had condemned as the third party were their comrades and supporters. Accordingly, the workers criticized the company authority to interfere in the labor union's independent activities by involving the third parties such as executive members of the company and specialists in dismantling labor unions. In fact, the terrorist incidents led by them caused the strike to last longer than initially expected.
The third parties who supported the Hyundai Heavy Industries in The 128 Day Strike were arrested for the offence of the third party intervention ban regardless of whether or not they actually executed the intervention. On the other hand, even though some people participated in the terror cases and did not make a direct employment contract with the company, they were punished not for the offence of the third party intervention ban, but just for violence, The law of banning the third party's intervening in labor disputes interrupts independent activities of laborers and labor unions, and accordingly served to suppress labor movements.
