Tilting train which achieved non-accident rail distance over 130thousand kilometers has been developed as a national R&D policy and planned to introduce and operate in 2013 by KORAIL. Therefore, as a preparation of Tilting-train operation, KORAIL is performing a study on operation efficiency for introduction effectiveness maximization.
This study performed Operation Treatment Manual to improve a operational safety of Tilting-train
considering special quality of superior curve driving performance and speed reduction. Tilting-train has different Operation Treatment patterns compared to other general trains due to higher curve driving speed and superior speed reduction. So the Operation Treatment Manual specialized only on excellent performance of Tilting-train is necessary for operational safety and efficiency.
Previously, we investigated railroad data including location of stations of Jungang-line which is planned to operate Tinting-train, the present status of curves and grades, sorts and location of traffic lights, location of tunnels and bridges, and then schematized those railroad data using excel. We analyzed operational(service) patterns of engine drivers by performing field study, boarding on driver's room during Tilting-train trial runs, and then drew up standard run curve diagram and Operation Treatment Manual by each section.
This Operation Treatment Manual is able to enhance the operational safety of Tilting-train and would be practically used in training and education for enginedrivers.
