Our country's mobile telephone industry is a relatively weak area due mainly to its heavy dependence on foreign supply of key parts and backward marketing technique, compared to its counterparts of advanced countries. In order for Korean enterprises to explore the proper measures in line with the market expansIOn strategy In China, they are requested to cooperate with the government effectively to benchmark successful entries in China by major leaders of the industry including Nokia that has overcome the limit of small market size of its mother country and grown to be the world's biggest manufacturer of mobile telephones.
Since China's admission to WTO, the prospects of opening policy, increase of new demand and expansion of CDMA market are offering vital chances to Korean manufacturers who are most competitive in the area of CDMA.
However, in spite of such positive factors as realization of economy of Size, geographical advantage, cultural homogeneity, competitiveness in CDMA that Korean enterprises can enjoy in Chinese market, there are some disadvantages, too, that may negatively function, such as preference policy for Chinese products by Chinese government, its various regulations, deepened competition with newly entering or already entered companies, continuing improvement In competitiveness of Chinese companies and ever increasing competition among Korean enterprises in the wake of overlapped investments in that market.
