Korean Sun-do(仙道) literature is divided into scriptures and historical books. Cheonbukyeong(天符經), Samilsingo(三一神誥) and Chamjeongyekyeong (參佺戒經) are the three great scriptures of Korean Sun-do. In its historical books, there are literatures described by a historical view of Sun-do as Budoji(符都誌), Hwandangogi(桓檀古記), Gyuweonsahwa(揆園史話), Cheonghakjib (靑鶴集) and Haedongijeok(海東異蹟). Especially, Cheonbukyeong is a core scripture which becomes a foundation of Trinitism(三元論), an ontology of Korean Sun-do.
12 literatures recorded the whole sentence of Cheonbukyeong(天符經) until 1940 years ago are divided to three kinds of inherited process as Nosa-Gijeongjin(盧沙奇正鎭), Taebaekilsa(太白逸史) and Nongeun-Yujip(農隱遺集). Cheonbukyeong which Gye Yeon-Soo happened on at a stone well of Mt. Myohyang has a lot of questions. The author thinks that Cheonbukyeong of Mt. Myohyang was orginated from Taekbaekilsa.
Anti-Japanese independent activists of Japan’s colonial rule of Korea introduced and commented Cheonbukyeong. Therefore, the study could confirm that Cheonbukyeong was the strong motive of the independence movement to restore the original form of the Korean culture and thought and to establish independent identity as Dangun(檀君) represented the racial spirit and identity.
In modern times, with expansion of Dangun recognition, social and cultural campaigns and philosophical study of Cheonbukyeong are being developed widely.
