The purpose of this study was to clarify the effects of treadmill exercise and black rice administration on BMD and Electrolyte metabolism in female wistar rats. 5-week old 42 male wistar rats were randomly divided into six groups: control diet non-ex. group(CN, n=7) and 10%black rice diet non-ex. group(10BN, n=7) and 30%black rice diet non-ex. group(30BN, n=7) and control diet ex. group(CE, n=7). and 10%black rice diet ex. group(10BE, n=7) and 30%black rice diet ex. group(30BE, n=7). All rats were fed with the same amount of food intake and allowed free access to tap water. Exercise training was performed on the treadmill at 23m/min, 60min/day, 5days/week for 8weeks. End of the experimental period, rats were sacrificed, blood was drawn and low limb bones and several organs were removed. End of Body weights of 10BN and 30BN groups were higher than those of 10BN and 30BN groups(p<.001). BMD of lumber of 30BE group(0.179±0.008 g/㎠) were higher than those of 30B group(0.17l±0.004 g/㎠), respectively(p<.05). Calcium of 10BN group(l0.0±0.4 ㎎/㎗) were higher than those of 10BE group(9.5±0.3 ㎎/㎗), respectively(p<.05) and 10BN group were higher than those of CN group(9.6±0.3 ㎎/㎗), respectively(p<.05). These results suggest that black rice administration might improve the growth including body weight and calcium in the rats, and the cooperative treatment of treadmill exercise has more beneficial effect on BMD.
