In recent years, the importance of logistics, especially LIS(logistics information system) cannot be emphasized too much. As the competitiveness of a firm has a close relationship with the construction of integrated LIS, many domestic firms make an effort to strengthen their competitiveness. In order to meet these requirements, many domestic firms consider progressive investment in LIS, basic logistics technology, and logistics administration. But what is more important is that logistics performance can be differed by the relationship among the firm's characteristics such as logistics strategic capacity, logistics organization, basic logistics technology level, and logistics administration capability. Therefore, the objective of this study was to examine the relationships among structural factors such as logistics management activities, logistics information technology, and application of LIS and performance. The survey was conducted on the small size manufacturing firms registered in Pusan. And totally 127 samples were collected to test the suggested research model. The results of this study were summarized as follows:
1) It was found that the factors of logistics management capacity had a positive relationships with the LIS application.
2) It was found that the application of LIS had positive relationships with logistics performance and the application of LIS has higher relationships with customer service than the logistics cost reduction.
This research suggests the practical implication to the business managers as follows. First, The top/logistics manager have a committment to the LIS because logistics performance is greatly influenced by LIS. Second, The introduction of innovative information technology such as EDI can be necessary to implement LIS successfully. Third, The LIS can be move effective to the customer service improvement than the logistics cost reduction.
