지금의 시대를 들어 정보화시대를 지나 지식의 시대가 도래하였다고들 한다. 지식이란 단순히 무언가를 알고 있다는 것을 의미하는 것이 아니라 기업과 같은 조직체에서 기업의 의사결정을 수행하는 과정에서 발생하는 자료와 정보를 유의적으로 활용하고자 하는 것이다. 국외의 선진국에서는 이러한 지식경영을 이미 일찍이 도입ㆍ실천하고 있으며, 우리나라 기업들도 1990년대 초반부터 지식경영체제에 대한 연구를 시작하여왔으며 대기업들의 경우 이미 지식경영시스템을 도입하여 실천하고 있다.
본 연구는 국내기업의 지식경영 도입 및 실천방안을 도출하기 위해 국내외 문헌에 대한 이론적 고찰과 국내외로 지식경영을 도입하여 운영되고 있는 실제 기업사례들을 중심으로 구성하였다. 이를 위해 지식경영에 대한 여러 이론들을 정리하였고, 국외기업으로는 앤더슨 컨설팅과 오라클社를, 국외기업으로는 대우정보시스템과 삼성 SDS를 중심으로 살펴보았다. 이를 통해 국내 기업들의 실천방안을 도출하였다.
